Mary Jessie Gillis

Mary Jessie Gillis, a native of Inverness, Cape Breton, began playing piano at the age of five. She learned from Maybelle Chisholm MacQueen, whose rollicking, powerful approach has been a strong influence on her style of playing. She performed and toured with fiddler Jerry Holland for many years.
