Blaine Aitkens

Blaine Aitkens

After a long hiatus from the Celtic Music scene Blaine has recently been seen onstage with fiddlers Brian MacDonald and John Donald Cameron. First introduced to Celtic music at age thirteen, Blaine played regularly with then-teenage Howie and Brian MacDonald, accompanied pianist Dougie MacPhee and members of the Barra MacNeils, and played in a trio featuring pianist George MacInnes and Howie MacDonald. He was side-man man on albums by Dougie MacPhee and Howie MacDonald, and engineered/produced recordings by several local artists. Blaine is equally at home with jazz, blues, and rock, which contributes to an accompaniment style that employs a piano-like chord/bassline technique. Some of his Celtic Music influences include David MacIsaac, Estwood Davidson, Dougie MacPhee, and the piano style of Howie MacDonald.
