Taya MacDonald

Taya MacDonald

Hailing from Mabou Harbour, Cape Breton, Taya MacDonald is a young multi-instrumentalist with a passion for traditional Cape Breton music. Her love of the music comes honestly enough – the Harbour MacDonalds have long been known for their own love of the music and their snappy step dancing. At age five, she showed a keen interest in traditional music. Through school music class, private lessons, participation in community ceilidhs and great family encouragement, Taya has learned to put her hand to the fiddle, piano, guitar, mandolin and accordion. Taya  a student at St. FX University. She has taken part in Na Gaisgich Òga – The Young Heroes Gaelic Mentorship Program as well as Féis Cape Breton’s Musical Mentorship, where she continues to build her repertoire and skill.
