Aidan MacNeil began piping at age 11 with Trevor Kellock. He is a lead harmony player with the Cape Breton Island grade 4 Pipe Band where he serves as Pipe Major of the grade 5 band. He is also a teacher and mentor to new members. With the Pipe Band, Aidan has played in the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo Youth Band and with the Chieftains at Celtic Colours. He has travelled to compete both with the band and solo, winning multiple awards including North American Pipe Band Championships for grade 5 in 2019. For many summers, Aidan served as duty piper at Colaisde na Gàidhlig / the Gaelic College.
