Fr. David Rankin

Fr. David Rankin is a Catholic priest from Mabou, Cape Breton. He studied Celtic Studies at St. Francis Xavier University, where he also earned a degree in education for teaching Gaelic. He spent several years at the Gaelic College, assisting with and later directing its education program. He went on to complete a Master of Divinity at the University of Toronto and a pontifical theology degree at St. Augustine’s Seminary. Ordained in 2024, he now serves as Associate Pastor at Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Sydney River. A fluent Gaelic speaker, Fr. David has been singing in Gaelic since childhood. He has contributed to several award-winning musical projects and is frequently consulted as a Gaelic song expert. He also plays guitar and enjoys step dancing.
