Rannie MacLellan started playing the fiddle at age 12 after his mother showed him how to play his first tune at their home in Cape Breton. He kept learning tunes from then on by himself. Rannie made his first public appearance at age 14, at a concert at his parish hall in Southwest Margaree. Since then, in addition to performing at many dances and concerts, he has been a staple at the Glendale Fiddle Festival, Broad Cove Scottish Concert, Rollo Bay Fiddle Festival and the Atlantic Fiddler's Jamboree in PEI. Rannie presently lives on Prince Edward Island.
